But the fate had something else in store for them. Today the songs of love and friendship are silenced. Today they stood facing each other as protagonists on that same bloodthirsty land. Tradition bound, they stood with one bullet each in their pistols, ready to settle a dispute of honor. Will the old order of tradition win or will the new order bring in a new era of peace and harmony? Will the blood of one grandson be shed to appease the rigid traditions of the Thakur grandfather or will the fathers supreme sacrifice save both hi ssons. Gharwali Baharwali
Starring: Anil Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Rambha, Kader Khan, Satish Kaushik
Anil Kapoor is a travel agent with all the sundry trappings of a happy home. That a travel agent should have such an opulent house, makes you wonder about the kind of salary he earns. However it is conveyed to the viewer that the wealth is khandani. Anyway, a film is after all the stuff dreams are made of, right? Also living in this opulent house with Anil are Raveena as his wife and Kader Khan as his father. But there is a flaw in the familys picture postcard happiness. Raveena cannot conceive, and Kader wants Anil to stay married until one of his wives bears a child. He tries all the tricks in the book to achieve this end.
To add to the convoluted plot, add a trip abroad and you have a full-lenght feature film. Anil goes on a business trip to Nepal with his friend Satish Kaushik and finds many people including Rambha, chasing a lamb. Anil manages to catch the animal and hands it over to Rambha, who to his surprise bursts into tears. It appears that catching the lamb is Nepali way of getting the best husband. Now, Anil will have to marry Rambha but, he is already a married man. At the same time local law dictates that he will be killed if he refuses to marry Rambha. The dice are indeed loaded against him. Satish Kaushik saves Anil and the film from a premature end by tricking him into marriage. So, Anil married one time too many, decided to flee the scene. But he is soon confronted with another offshoot of the law - if the spouse runs away, the wife has to lead the dismal life of a widow. so our hero Anil is left with no choice but to own up and bring Rambha back with him. In the mean time he does exercise his marital rights and manages to get her pregnant. things are complicated back home, when Kader does a volte-face and commands that Anil is not to marry again. So Rambha is to enter the household as, what else, but a poor maid with a kid. Bigamy seems to be the in thing. But Anils dreams go to burst as he two times indiscreetly, that too under the same roof. Raveena smells a rat and plans to get Rambha married off. But essentially the film is meant to be a gag a minute. An indication of the flippancy is that the film does not end in tragedy with one of the wives conviently bumped off. "It has always been my fantasy to live with two wives", says Anil. Here he gets to keep his cake and eats it too.

The conflict of good and evil is deeply entrenched in the Indian psyche and takes many forms. The most accessible and popular being the epics like the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Myths that are passed on from generation to generation. Unlike in western narrative structures, the battle of good nad the evil is not just a battle for the real world that we see around us. In the Indian context, it is a fight for the very spirit of a human being. For after all, there is darkness and light in all of us.They are just two ends of the samer spectrum. Two sides of the same coin. The movie explores the ancient Indian philosophy that the ultimate battlefield for good and evil is nothing but a human beings body. And the ultimate prize : his soul. Aks is a modernistic rendition rendition of this ancient conflict of good and evil. While it takes the form of an avant garde psychological thriller, it is just a structure to explore this timeless philosophy. Aks then is the story of a hunter and his prey. A cop and a killer. Darkness and Light.Aks is the story of Manu Verma and Raghavan. The story begins innocently enough, in the haart of Budapest. The Indian Defence Minister is on, what seemes to be a routine foreign visit. However, the truth of the matter is that there is a hidden agenda behind the smiles and the handshakes. The visit is only an elaborate cover. As the motorcade makes its way through the streets of the old Hungarian capital, the Indian Defence Minister reveals the true details of this diplomatic trip, to his Head of Security Manu Varma. At the heart of the matter, he explains, lies a floppy, with valuable information that could affect the very destiny of the nation. This is not the only sensitive news that has been revealed to the Head of Security, that day. Intelligence sources have revealed to Manu Verma, that a loan assassin, long feared for has ruthlessness, has been paid to eliminate the Defence Minister. The shadowy figure is called Raghavan. Throughout the visit Manu Verma can feel Raghavans sixty sense proves right. He reaches the Indian Defence Minister just moments too late, and finds the statesman in a pool of blood. Raghavan has struck and vanished into thin air. The floppy has vanished with him. From this moment of begins a manhunt of epic propportions. Manu Verma becomes a man obsessed with captturing Raghavan. Nothing matters to him now except his prey. Furthermore, he begins finding Raghavans handiwork, a familiar trail of dead bodies, all around the city. In the process, Manu verma digs deeper into the heart of darkness. The double helix (situation) is a cliché the world a literature and entertainment never seem to tire off. Yes "Abhay" is yet another dual role played by Kamal Hassan, with an astounding record of having made success of all the dual role films he played in (nearly 20 in all). "ABHAY" is a novel written by Kamal Hassan many years ago is a precursos of Thomas Hariss "Silence of the Lambs". Thank goodness or else our well informed scribes would have screamed plagarism. A thriller set in Dehli. The season is winter. Major Vijay Kumar of N.S.G. is all set to mary his news caster girlfriend Tejaswani. Vijay Kumar has a demented brother Abhay who has been an inmate of a few mental asylums for the past 22 years. Abhay went in for matricide when he was 12. Many attempts made by the family, requesting the release of the patient were turned down by the Asylum authorities since they thought Abhay was unfit for the social cirus & probably dangerous. "His paranoid schizophrenia & psychopathic attitude is bound to to wreck havoc to his mind & society" the court says…and then Vijay& Tejaswani make the grave mistake of going to the asylum to meet his twin brother to say sorry for not being able to get him out. Vijay & Tejaswani do not know that they are responsible for unleashing hell in Dehli & in their own lives. Abhay, like his name is fearless. A mind with no draping of etiqette or civic behaviour. The human mind at its most naked form. Imagine!!! We have and hope to live up to your expectations.

The crime branch of the police force's morale is absolutely low. Three vigilante cops, Senior Inspector Vikram Singh ( Shatrughan Sinha), a few years away from retirement. Sub Inspector Appa Kadam Naik (Suniel Shetty) dispensing instant justice, no ball hearings, adjournments, etc. Eliminate them. Constable Khalid Ansari (Paresh Rawal) was loved for his cryptic jokes. Everyone liked to have him around. They could not beat the system. They dealt with it as they could. Manik Rao, the Home Minister, Yusuf Pathan the underworld don and Gautam Walia, a business magnate had the city pretty well sewn up. Things were normal till the arrival of DCP Hari Om Patnaik (Akshay Kumar). An attempted threat, ended up in a murder and the case was handed to the Crime Branch. That was all that DCP Patnaik needed. Despite their differences, Vikram Singh, Appa Naik and DCP Patnaik combine into a highly explosive force that will tear everything apart. Things would never be normal again.
Agni Varsha
Starring: Jackie Shroff, Raveena Tandon, Milind Soman, Sonali Kulkarni, Nagarjuna
Adapted from the play, The Fire and The Rain by one of the Indias foremost playwrights, Girish Karnad, Agnivarsha is derived from the myth of Yavakri, which is a part of the great Indian epic, Mahabharata. The film was shot entirely on location in Hampi, a world heritage site. The production of the film has retained the period aspect without losing the immediacy of contemporrary insights that are so much a part of the script. the film is set in a land that has been in the midst of a ravaging drought for ten years. In order to appease Indra, the God of rain, a grand fire sacrifice is being conducted at the palace. As this sacrifice drwas to a close, ebgins our story - a grand tale of lust, sedeuction, love, betrayal, sibling rivalry and ultimately murder. Director Arjun Sajnani brings his rich experience in theater to play in this complex tale of human emotions and spirit. He deftly switches between a range of well-etched characters to great dramtic effect in a film that explores Hindu philosophy and the concept of karma (destiny).

510 Laughs guaranteed: The son of a gardener (Sunil Shetty) has inherited a large sum of money (400 Rs. crores to be exact). To get get it, he must get his inheritance papers approved by his lawyer (Shekar Suman). Sunil eventually does as he happily embarks on his way to the life of the rich and famous. However, there is one clause in his inheritance. Before he can actually obtain the money he must acquire the status of the biggest and badest mobster of the town that he lives in. Sunil is astonished by this inane clause but realizes that the money is quite worth it. When Shekhar examines the papers he realizes that he has made a mistake and has given Sunil the wrong inheritance papers, and that Sunil´s clause was not to become a don, but rather that the money would be sent to him immediately following the death of his father.

Shekhar now realizes he has made a big blunder and that if he says anything his chances of getting any part of Sunil´s inheritance are gone. Rather, he now believes that if he can help Sunil become a don in order to acquire the money, he will be in store for a generous portion of it.

Sunil now takes the appropriate measures to become the biggest mobster ever, however he must do this without the neighbor (Raveena Tandon), who is a bad police officer, knowing. This becomes a difficult task as Raveena is Sunil´s true source of groceries, etc., even though the two usually do not get along and are constantly bickering. Sunil must go about his business of conducting faux underground crime without letting Raveena in on the fun, because even though she is a bad police officer who can´t get her job done right, she is still a police officer.

Sunil still unaware that the inheritance papers indicated no such clause, now has to become the biggest don. And to do so, he must rob banks, kidnap people and do all the good stuff that mobsters do. With Shehkar as his helper, and the goofed up cop Raveena as his enemy can he make it out rich?

Kundan Shah had previously mentioned that he has focused more on laughter in Ek Se Badkar Ek. The aim is not on making the action or robbery scenes look extremely stylish (ala Awara Paagal Deewana) but, to get the scenes shot with the right amount of humour, with an end goal of producing laughs. And according to the inside reports, he has. Interestingly enough, Sunil Shetty and Raveena Tandon have both been successful with comedy. Raveena with her numerous Govinda releases, and Sunil in his last attempt Yeh Tera Ghar Yeh Mera Ghar became the best thing about a bad film. This will be Shekhar Suman´s next after he rose laughter with his seven characters in David Dhawan´s Chor Machaaye Shor. But this time he won´t be the character playing three roles, Makrand Deshpande will. Asrani and Gulshan Grover head the cast for character artistes with the latter playing a real don.

India is an idea dying for.. whether u are hindu or muslim, an inhospitable graveyard at half the height of everest, that was kargil, the cream of a nation's youth reduced to a mass of blood, sorched flesh... and memories of valour.
The story had to be told. Before we forget... Kargil is not just a cold, isolated place. It is now an unforgettable landmark in our history. There is a timeless lesson in the story; a testament to the human spirit, the bravery of our officers and our jawans. This film is a tribute to their memories. A tribute to the bravest of the brave. What is astonishing and must be told, what is truly heroic about our boys is that they fought fairly. Yes, fairly. The enemy had already breached the rules of peace. If our Army, too, had crossed the L.O.C., they might have finished the war in 7 days flat. Our boys were angry, they were seething, but they showed tremendous restraint. They did not cross the L.O.C., no matter the provocation, the agony, the frustration of seeing their comrades dying around them. And so a 7-days war took 80 days to finish, took so many more lives than was actually necessary.

Stumped is a story set during the 1999 cricket world cup and the simultaneous developments in Kargil…it traces the life of army major Raghav Seth s (who is fighting the Kargil war) wife Reena as well as the lives of the cricket crazy residents of Happy Home Complex. The most avid cricket lovers among these are Mr. Khetrapal followed by Girish, Gautam and Bhola. However, the secretary of Happy Home Complex, Mr.Subramanium heads the anti-cricket campaign along with another resident Laltoo Singh. During the India-Sri Lanka Match, the two of them cut the cable wire to teach everybody a lesson. In the midst of the cricket mania, Baba, a God-Man visits the Housing complex and shows Girish and Deshpande how their queries about India s chances of winning the world cup and the fate of stock market, are insignificant in comparison to Raghav and the war he is fighting for our country. Events reach a turning point when Reena receives the news that her husband, Major Raghav is missing in action and presumed dead, while her neighbors celebrate the home team win. In many ways stumped is a coming of age story; it is a story of exuberance and youth, of fears and insecurities. In short, of life as we lead it. Stumped is a story, whose time has come.

Sangeeth Sivan, brother of Asoka director Santosh Sivan, makes his directorial debut with the horror-thriller Sandhya. The film stars Jackie Shroff and Ashutosh Rana. Sivan has probably decided to test the theory that after Raaz it is only movies that make one's hair stand that are successful commercially. From an audience point of view, Sandhya will be an interesting look into the minds of the insane and also a thrilling ride; as the promos say, “What if the hunter becomes the hunted?”

The story is about Dr. Singhania (Ashutosh Rana), a psychiatrist who works in an asylum. One day his family is ruthlessly murdered in their home and the shock causes him to go insane. He ends up being admitted in the very same hospital where he was practicing. Time passes and when evaluated, he appears to be normal and has recovered from the trauma. Upon his release, he even decides to go back home, renovate it and turn it into a nursing home called 'Sandhya'. But normalcy doesn't last long as Singhania starts remembering his family. He goes back into a depression. As the anniversary of the day of his family's death approaches, he becomes more and more erratic. To relieve his suffering, he decides that the best way out is to join the rest of his family. He then decides to hire Jaggu (Jackie Shroff) to murder him on his family's death anniversary. Jaggu reluctantly agrees and on the fateful day, everything is in place for the event but then something goes wrong. The killer now has to fight for survival himself as he realises that he has been deceived.

A fortnight ago, we had Rajkumar Santhosi planting needles in people's heart by describing the pathos of cops in KHAKEE. Mehul Kumar steps in with a hard-hitting subject in JAAGO. The movie addresses child rape that has been dealt in very few cases in Bollywood. Mehul has always instilled public-provoking thoughts in his film and history speaks of Nana Patekar's lifting career, after KRANTIVEER and TIRANGA. JAAGO is a must view movie.

Shruthi (Hansika Motwani) travels with her mother, Sharaddha (Raveena Tandon) everyday to school. They have to travel from Borivali to Bandra by local train. On one such evil-fated day, Shruthi is late in catching the train to her home and some young guys who are drug addicts in nature, rape her in front of the terrified co-passengers. The bereaved parents address the issue to the police. Sanjay Kapur plays the father to the kid.

Kripa Shankar Thakur (Manoj Bajpai) takes the case and promises to nab the guys. But he has lot of ordeal at stake. One of the accused happens to be a politician's (Akhilendra Mishra) son. Kripa is subjected to physical tension, but he fights them back. He also lets out many secrets of the society. So what are the secrets he reveals? Will Sharaddha take revenge for her kid's death? JAAGO has a thunderous climax ahead.

JAAGO is a songless film; keeping that point in mind Mehul would have few butterflies in his stomach. However, he would be happy with the performance of his starcast especially Manoj and Raveena. Coincidentally Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia were responsible for the hit KRANTIVEER, and could be said of Manoj and Raveena.

Manoj delivers a power packed performance and has silenced his critics, who are thinking of his retirement phase. Manoj calm and composed yet the eyes does have the radiance of Bhiku Mathre. Raveena Tandon is seen in a dignified role and gives an amazing performance. It is surprising with a good script and a good director Raveena can still deliver. Her past record with SHOOL, SATTA and now JAAGO definitely holds her in reverence.

Puru Rajkumar is good in his role and keeps some defining moments in the movie. Akhilendra Mishra is superb in his dialogue delivery. Hansika Motwani should be applauded for enacting such a difficult character with so much ease. Sanjay Kapoor does a saving grace to his drowning career. The rest are average.

Dialogues (KK Singh) have a huge striking factor in JAAGO. They spark magic in the film during the confrontation of Manoj and Akhilendra. The court scene is also a highlighting part of the movie. However, the movie would be a bag of confusion if it were to run in the rural parts. Also the length of the movie should be curtailed.

JAAGO has a great opening and looks like this subject-oriented movie is all set to rock. JAAGO has the potential to do quite a good business.
